We strongly recommend checking out the Croning newsletter archive, the Postmodern Witch Instagram feed, and past issues of the zine (The Baba Yaga Issue, The Sheela Na Gig Issue) to get an idea of what we’re all about before you send a submission.

What kind of submissions are you looking for?
We welcome:
- Personal essays (800–2,000 words)
- Lite academia (800–2,000 words)
- Poetry (any style, max 50 lines)
- Interviews or profiles
- Artwork or photography (high-res, with captions)
- Thematic pitches (see our Call for Submissions page).
How do I submit?
Email your draft or pitch to Jessica.
- Subject line: “Submission: [Format] + [Title]
- A short bio (50 words)
- Links to prior work if available.
Do you pay contributors?
Currently, we offer 3 print copies of the zine to contributors. We will reexamine this model when we hit the break-even point.
What’s your editorial process?
- We respond within 2 weeks.
- Accepted pieces may undergo light editing; we’ll seek your approval for major changes.
- We may decline submissions without detailed feedback.
Can I republish my work elsewhere?
We ask for exclusive rights for 3 months after publication in Croning and credit: “Originally published in the [Name] Issue of Croning.
Do you accept anonymous or pseudonymous work?
Yes, in special cases—please note this in your submission.
