13 Days of Baba Yaga: A Playlist (And Some Exciting News!)
Day 8

What you’re looking at here is the first issue of Croning. I sent it to the printer today, and I’m currently awaiting final proofs. I am so happy with what my best hags and I put together and I can’t wait to share it with you!
The Baba Yaga Issue will be available for preorder—at a modest discount—until I have print copies in my hand. After that, the price will go up. I will also make the digital edition available then.
While we wait, we can enjoy this Baba Yaga playlist. This collection is more about setting a mood than hitting the nail on the head, as it were, so I limited the number of songs actually about my favorite Slavic trickster to two. There are a couple of songs with “bones” in the title. Hole’s “Doll Parts” is—a very oblique—reference to “Vasilissa the Beautiful.” The rest of the songs are just generally witchy and a little bit wild.
Bonus! Two More Playlists, Because Why Not?
Big Fat Solstice! is a collection of some of the winter season’s more obviously pagan—or at least less obviously Christian—songs reaching back centuries. This playlist was created by Danica Boyce, host of the Fair Folk Podcast.
My own ever-evolving playlist, Baby Jesus, Born to Rock, is extremely ecumenical.
Croning posts are free for now. Please share!
